A cross cultural project
An intercultural jazz project based on a new sound idea of the band’s musicians. The three musicians met on their long and fascinating travels. Their knowledge and experience corresponds to structures which have been based, and internalised over time, on a variety of aesthetic styles. Their chemistry is astonishing and their music is undoubtedly lyrical, approachable and filled with captivating melodies that reach fascinating and dynamic crescendos. A jazz concert fully endowed with traditional elements and focused on the ambient and mood.

An event by the Pafos Photographical Society and the Community Involvement programme, which encourages people to look at the town of Pafos through a different perspective. The Photomarathon, as a photographic challenge, urges the participants to discover new meanings in known and unknown sites and to explore methods of depiction of ideas, thoughts, feelings and the rhythms of daily life in the town. The Photomarathon as a contest is a special challenge. The participants will meet at a specified time in a region of Paphos. They will be given four unknown subjects and they will have at their disposal four hours to interpret and depict these subjects with their camera or their mobile phone.
Bridging Tastes – Exchanging Recipes
Students from various countries who attend the Department of Hotel and Culinary Arts of Pafos’ Technical School will exchange recipes, stories and experiences, exchanging, in essence, personal, family, and even wider social “biographies”. The procedure is recorded photographically forming a history of world cuisine that highlights the proximity, common roots and the peculiarities of each culinary culture. However, at the same time, this meeting touches some of the most complex contemporary issues, particularly those of uprooting, migration and loss of traditional social structures.
Presentation of the artistic dialogue – and more – between children of the two communities in Paphos and Kyrenia, through the documentary of Sylvia Nicolaidou and Nicolas Iordanou. The artists watched the proceedings of workshops and recorded the creation of a bridge between the children, through the art of Cementography. Learning this by far Cypriot art, the children jointly created their works, using materials (clay and stone) from the other side of the barricade. Naming their works A day from the life of Kyrenia and A day from the life of Pafos, children make up a cementography based on the daily life of a town, which they have never visited.
Peace2Peace: Revisiting Mouttalos
An installation on the fencing of the St. Sophia Mosque (Cami-i Kebir) marks the start of the activities of the Women’s Bicommunal Team Peace2Peace in Pafos, in the context of the Revisiting Mouttalos programme. Women from all over Cyprus meet and jointly create crochet installations and highlighting the concepts of creativity, peace and coexistence. Crochet, as one of the most widespread traditional handicrafts, acts as a link to the daily lives of people and the crochet pieces of this installation are parts of the same connective web comprising of different and identical patterns.

Eco Art is one of the most ambitious projects of Pafos 2017 with cultural and ecological vision for Cyprus and Europe. The project will highlight the relationship between art and nature, open a dialogue on crucial issues and create an important legacy in contemporary art in Cyprus.
The second dance event of the Community Involvement programme Let’s Move. The Folklore Associations of Pafos, Ktima, Afrodite, The Castle, Konia, Ieroi Kipoi, Chnaria tis Paradosis, Romiosini and Koili, with the collaboration of St. Neophytos Lyceum in the coordination of schools of Elementary, Secondary, Technical and Occupational Education of the Pafos district, meet in a dance trail with starting point Mouttalos Square. Passing through the Pafou Chrysanthou street and Makarios avenue they will end in Kennedy Square, where the public will be invited to take part in a dancing mosaic that unites peoples, civilizations and cultures of various nationalities. Out of the skin
This is a project that aims at the education and social integration of teenagers with a different ethnic and social background inviting them to creatively conquer their identity and also to use their diversity, often a cause of conflict, as a material for the creation of their own “art” through a series of workshops. A group of artists, dancers and special instructors from Cyprus, Palestine, Slovenia and Finland have selected 16 teenagers from various schools in Cyprus who coexist and engage in collective creations, turning their experiences into artworks. Cinema and Philharmonic is an original programme which combines the Seventh Art with music played by philharmonic orchestras. In the context of this programme, clips from films will be screened under the sounds of the bands, so as to give new dimensions on how to watch a film but also to recruit the corresponding music feast. A new aesthetic experience and a discovery of the beauty and power hidden in the voice of cinema through the sounds of the Matzaros Philharmonic Society of Corfu and that of the Cyprus National Guard.

EDN Atelier - Akamas: Nature embodied
Performances, sharing and discussions with local and invited artists from the member Dance Houses of the European Dance House Network (EDN) to research ecological art methodologies as they pertain to a particular contested site in order to generate new artistic and ecological resonances.
