Hermes Airports has launched a new program with a view to facilitate relaxation for stressed passengers prior to their flights, as well as, to encourage adoptions from dog shelters. For the next three months, once a week and for a duration of two-hours, specially trained dogs will be located at the Departure Gates area of Larnaka airport, where passengers will have the opportunity to meet the dogs and pet them.

The «Preboarding Zen mode» program has been launched after weeks of preparation and training, where the dogs were specially trained to handle an environment such as the airport. All dogs that are participating in the program, are trained to comfort people and are accompanied by trainers, ensuring that the interactions are safe for everyone.

This initiative is part of Hermes Airports' sustainability strategy and social responsibility, aiming to provide comfort to passengers, but also to create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere at the airport. Furthermore, this initiative highlights the importance of animal adoption, promoting the idea that shelter dogs can be the perfect companions.

The Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communication at Hermes Airports, Maria Kouroupi, stated that “We are happy to present the ‘’Preboarding Zen Mode’’ program at Larnaka Airport, that since its launch day attracted a lot of passengers who wanted to pet Triggle, a friendly, stray, German shepherd. Our goal is to offer passengers a unique and positive experience, whilst encouraging the adoption of dogs".
