As reflected in our corporate Energy Policy, Hermes Airports is firmly committed to excel in Energy Management, where all Energy challenges are addressed within the framework of our Energy Management System (EnMS).  For more details on the specific actions, please refer to our Energy Policy.

Following hard work, efficient planning and passion for success, Hermes Airports has been accredited with the ISO50001:2011, considered to be the leading international award in the field of energy management.

What is ISO 50001 Energy Management System?

In addition to the ISO 50001, Hermes Airports has acquired the second level of ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation) Certificate issued by the ACI (Airport Council International) which is related to the joint efforts for the reduction of dioxide emissions, globally.  The 2nd Level of ACI's accreditation, obtained by Hermes, includes the verification by an external approved auditor of all carbon dioxide emissions directly controlled by Hermes Airports, combined with the efforts made since 2010 in the energy saving field. The accreditation confirms the steady and long-term reduction of carbon dioxide emissions whilst at the same time confirms the occurrence of energy policy, strategy and an effective action plan aiming at further reduction of carbon dioxide emissions with specific targets.

Hermes Airports is also proud to announce the acquisition of the third level certificate of ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation). The carbon management processes at Larnaka and Pafos International Airports have earned the accreditation level of OPTIMISATION, in recognition of the airport's exemplary work in managing and reducing its CO2 emissions and engaging other stakeholders to do the same, as part of the Global airport industry's response to the challenge of Climate Change.

Just six months after receiving the Level 3 ACA Certification, Hermes Airports acquired the fourth and highest level of the ACA Certification Level 3+ Neutrality for Larnaka and Pafos airports, which relates to the provision of compensation for carbon dioxide emissions. The ACA certification is comprised of four levels, which have so far been acquired by 274 airports in 71 countries, representing 44% of global air passenger traffic.
