Athina Antoniadou’s four big works are located in the niches of the eastern Arrivals aisle. These are the first images greeting foreign visitors as they arrive in Cyprus. They comprise of four major painting compositions on brown paper.

Four paper tapestries illustrating, in Athina’s distinctive style, a panorama of Cypriot history. Brown paper becomes the canvas on which the artist broiders and ravels her own myths and narrates bewitching episodes of a personal and sensitive view on history.

They are panoramas filled with symbols and elements, which shape our character and identity. The Chalcolithic idols become familiar and lovable.

The Byzantine archangel hovers next to the Muslim Mosque beneath the upright shadow of the Cypriot cypress. Linear archaic patterns meet with the modern urban landscape, producing vast postcards of a journey in space and time.
