The redesigned commercial areas at Larnaka Airport provide an improved travel experience to the passengers. Hermes Airports, the operator of Larnaka and Pafos Airports, and its partners Cyprus Airports Duty Free and Cyprus Airports F&B Ltd., created a complete plan for the transformation of the commercial areas with projects worth 20 million euro. The redesign project which begun in 2019 and lasted for 20 months, foresaw the creation of 11 upgraded retail concepts and 11 food and beverage concepts. The new, modern commercial areas offer improved passenger flow, while they were designed with an aim to contribute in increasing passenger numbers, as well as improving the overall travel experience. Concurrently, the arrival of new brands in the retail and food and beverage stores will satisfy a wide range of passengers offering a unique travel experience.

The areas, with a total range of 6731 sqm2, incorporate in their design, elements and details from the culture, and architecture of Cyprus, which is part of the wider Sense of Place project which is materialized for years at Larnaka and Pafos Airports. At the entrance of the commercial areas the new artwork of Maria Loizidou named “Volant Migrants”, gives a taste of what the passengers will see within the new areas.

In a statement the Senior Manager Commercial and Business Development of Hermes Airports, Elias Liolios said “We are pleased to present one of the largest projects materialized at Larnaka Airport. We are confident that the new, redesigned retail and food and beverage areas will offer a renewed and unique experience to the traveling public, as we have included elements from the tradition of Cyprus, we were inspired by the yards in our homes, the pottery from Lapithos and the basket weaving art from the villages of our country among others. We would like to express our gratitude to our partners at Cyprus Airports F&B and Cyprus Airports Duty Free for the excellent collaboration we have had throughout this project.”

The General Manager of Cyprus Airports F&B, Odysseas Georgiou stated “In the new food and beverage areas we have made use of successful concepts while we have included new brands in our product offering. We also have live food preparation from cuisines across the world, which cover all the dietary requirements and preferences of the passengers, while we have created completely new concepts which offer an authentic taste from the Cyprus cuisine”.
