Hermes Airports is hosting an event on Saturday 1 October 2022 from 10:00 until 16:00. More than 1000 small trees and plants will be offered to the public for free. The event will take place at Larnaka Airport opposite the Departures entrance. Amongst others, free citrus trees as well as herbs such as lavender, rosemary, thyme etc. will be offered.
It all begun this past February, when the staff of Hermes Airports gathered the lemons from the airport’s lemon trees. In collaboration with KEAN, homemade lemonade was produced from the lemons, which was offered to the departing passengers of Larnaka Airport during August.
As it was originally announced, all proceeds will be used for the launch of initiatives which aim to protect the environment. To start with, more than 1000 trees and small herbal plants will be offered for free, while the remaining initiatives involving the donation of drones to the Cyprus Forestry Department for fire monitoring and prevention as well as the installation of an electric car charging station, are planned for the near future.
The Lemonade Project is a joint campaign with ΚΕΑΝ, with the support of Cyprus Airports F&B and ICTS Cyprus.
